Robert confident for Neymar deal

Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez is confident a deal with Neymar will be reached after reports of a delay to talks.

It was on Tuesday said that Neymar had halted negotiations in order to focus on legal issues in Brazil but Robert is confident there’ll be an agreement to extend the forward’s contract.

“The renewal hasn’t been stopped. We’ll reach an agreement because he is a very important player and we want him to stay here,” Marca reports Robert telling SER.

“Sooner or later we’ll reach an agreement, if possible this season.

“He’s a potential Ballon d’Or winner. He’s the second best in the world after Lionel Messi. Neymar will definitely be a candidate.”

Robert added regarding the contract of Adriano that a final decision on his future will be taken at some point next year.

“We are in talks to renew his contract, although it’s true that Sergi Roberto has emerged with force [as an option at full-back],” Robert confirmed.

“[Adriano] will decide if he is staying at Barca on March 15.”
