Berizzo on alleged Cabral assault

Eduardo Berizzo says it is case closed as far as Gustavo Cabral's alleged assault on a passer-by after Celta Vigo's 1-1 draw with Eibar last Saturday is concerned.

The Argentine defender is the subject of a police report, in which he is accused of assaulting a young man named Iker Lemona during a night out in Bilbao, but the Coach insists his countryman is innocent until proved guilty.

“The players had my permission to leave. I didn't give them a time to get back because I have faith in their judgment,” he said ahead of Friday's encounter with Getafe in La Liga.

“I never get into the private lives of my players. I gave them permission to leave, but if something happens then I want to know.

“I asked [Cabral about the incident], he replied to me and the case was closed, although returning at seven in the morning is probably too late.

“I have confidence in what they do and their behaviour.

“I coach a committed group [of guys] who know where they're going, with clear objectives and responsibility.

“I won't enter into a discussion on anyone's private life because I don't like discussing my own.”
