Tebas expects early Clasico KO

LFP President Javier Tebas says the kick off time for November’s Clasico has yet to be confirmed but he expects it to be an early evening start.

Jaume Roures, head of broadcaster Mediapro, had said that the match at Santiago Bernabeu would begin at 20.30 local time, but Tebas questioned that information in an appearance on Onda Cero.

“I’m amazed that Roures has announced the time of Madrid-Barcelona when I don’t even know yet,” he said, AS reports.

“I would bet it is 18.15 [local time].”

Tebas was also asked about the habit of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi not to speak to reporters after Madrid and Barcelona matches.

“I don’t like that they don’t talk after games. Cristiano and Messi not talking doesn’t help them or their clubs,” he lamented.

On the subject of TV rights, Tebas insisted the intention of recent changes to the way in which they’re sold are to benefit La Liga as a whole.

“We’re not making up how much is paid for highlights,” he said.

“Ask how much they get paid in England. We’re working so the rest of the clubs, that aren’t Real Madrid or Barcelona, can increase their budgets.”
