Neymar has confirmed that he held talks with Manchester United in the summer but insists he was never close to leaving Barcelona.
The forward was linked with the Red Devils towards the end of the transfer window in light of negotiations over a new contract at Camp Nou reportedly stalling, and he has now given credence to these claims.
“There were talks but nothing materialised and I didn’t receive any offers,” he told ESPN Brasil.
United ultimately paid Monaco €49m for Anthony Martial – a world-record fee for a teenager.
