Xabi Alonso has issued a statement denying allegations of tax evasion and insisting he has always acted in accordance with the law.
It was on Tuesday claimed that the Bayern Munich midfielder had not paid taxes on image rights and an investigation had been opened, Alonso responding through his Twitter account.
“Following the information published today by the newspaper El Mundo on Xabi Alonso and the Tax Office, the player states the following:
“1. Clarify absolutely that he has always complied with each and every one of his tax obligations.
2. The players always acted to defend his interests, and, as is logical, respects the decision of the Court.
3. Of course, the player will use the measures he deems necessary to prove that all tax obligations have been fulfilled, transparently and adhering to the law.”
