Morata split on Madrid return

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata says while there is “no way” he is thinking about returning to Real Madrid next summer, he “appreciates” their interest.

Los Blancos are being tipped to activate their €35m buyback clause for the cantera at the end of the season, but the player initially moved to quash the speculation about his future.

“No way [am I thinking about Madrid],” he told Sportmediaset.

“Juventus are my team and I’m fine here. I’m not thinking about another team.”

However, he appeared to relax his stance in a separate interview to Sky Sport Italia, as per AS.

“I appreciate Real Madrid’s interest, but for now I’m only interesting in scoring goals and winning everything with Juventus,” he added.

Juve signed Morata on a four-year contract for €22m in the summer of 2014 but intend to offer him improved terms in order to keep him from Madrid’s clutches.
