Hulk has warned Valencia that Zenit St Petersburg are coming to Mestalla to get their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.
The sides meet on Wednesday night and Hulk has spoken to Marca – about the match and also his memories of former teammate Nuno Santo, Los Che’s Coach.
“He’s a great friend and a great person. I had a good relationship with him but when the game starts I will fight for my crest and he for his,” the Brazil international said.
“At the end we will return to our friendship. I wish him well and well for the future. I know he’ll be a great Coach.
“Valencia are a big team, experienced in these types of games. But we have the quality to beat them. Of course, we always respect the opponent.
“The goal is for Zenit to be top of the group. We’ve shown we can be competitive in the Champions League. Valencia aren’t the group favourites. We all want top spot.
“The goal in the first match is to win. It’s tough for us away from home, but we’ll try.”
