Muniain back in training

Athletic Bilbao have welcomed Iker Muniain back to training after the forward spent five months on the sidelines.

Mundo Deportivo reports Muniain working with his teammates having suffered a serious knee injury in April, when against Sevilla he damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

A return to playing isn’t close, however, with the timeline put at weeks before Muniain is available to Coach Ernesto Valverde.

But Muniain was able to take part in 40 minutes of Tuesday’s session, completing various circuits and getting involved in the rondos with the rest of the squad.

Mikel San Jose is nevertheless an injury absentee, struggling to recover from a hamstring problem, and may not play in the Europa League against Augsburg this week.
