Xavi Hernandez denies Barcelona’s flow of young talent is in ‘crisis,’ stressing how ‘exceptional’ the last generation was.
The veteran midfielder left Barca at the end of last season for Qatar’s Al Sadd and has been interviewed by Marca after making his debut.
“La Masia in crisis? Never. Generations can’t always be like the one we’ve experienced the last few years,” Xavi replied when asked about the academy.
“It was exceptional. Barca is a club that develops but also wins. It’s hard to see the limit. If you have a year where you don’t win anything, maybe you have to sign from outside.
“But when you’ve won the treble, maybe it’s time for Munir El Haddadi, Sandro Ramirez or Sergi Samper. Barca must always nurture La Masia.”
