Chelsea considering Valdes?

It’s suggested that Chelsea could make a winter approach to Manchester United for Victor Valdes after Thibaut Courtois’ long-term injury.

Former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Courtois is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and though Jose Mourinho has Asmir Begovic in his ranks, the Blues have been linked with former Barcelona custodian Valdes.

Valdes is on the fringes at Old Trafford after a falling-out with manager Louis Van Gaal and reports from Calcio Mercato and parts of the British Press claim there is interest from Stamford Bridge.

United didn’t register Valdes for the Champions League, meaning he would be eligible to play for Chelsea in the competition if they are still involved in 2016.

Sevilla are also suggested as a possible contender for Valdes’ signature after Beto was injured, and a report from AS says that might be the case.

B team goalkeeper David Soria has been added to the team’s Champions League list in place of the stricken Portuguese.

Signing a goalkeeper was apparently discussed and rejected by the Nervion hierarchy, but that was before Beto developed a knee problem that threatens to keep him out of action for more than a month.
