Benitez: No Undecima pressure

Rafa Benitez insists he doesn’t feel pressure to win Real Madrid’s 11th European Cup as Los Blancos begin their competition against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Benitez’s predecessor Carlo Ancelotti delivered the 10th, La Decima, in 2014, but was sacked a year later and Benitez installed.

“I feel the need and challenge to win every game in every competition,” Benitez replied, AS reports, when he was asked if there was pressure to emulate the Italian.

“If we win every game then we will win trophies. The Champions League is the most important in Europe but I really like the League and the Cup. I’d prefer to face them that way than choose.

“Shakhtar are a great team. It won’t be easy, as I said when the draw was made. They’ve got a Coach with a lot of experience and who gets a performance out of the players.

“It’s going to be complicated unless we’re focused. I’d compare it to playing Galatasaray because they have quality players and can make life difficult if you’re not at your best, but you can overcome them if you’re focused.”
