Xavi Hernandez has credited Pep Guardiola as ‘a leader in every sense’ and described Louis Van Gaal as ‘an amazing Coach.’
The former Barcelona playmaker was speaking to the organising committee for the 2022 World Cup, to be held in Qatar, and touched on two of his old bosses.
“Pep has been a leader in every sense for my career. We spoke the same football language and were raised in the same house,” he said, Marca reports.
“We understand the game the same way. For me he is one of the best Coaches in the world.
“The work he is doing at Bayern Munich is very, very good. Every year they’re favourites for the Champions League with Barca and Real Madrid, the biggest teams in Europe.”
Xavi moved on to Van Gaal, the Manchester United manager who gave him his Barca debut.
“He’s a Coach to take into account. I believe that in time he will do a very, very good job in Manchester, which he’s already doing,” Xavi continued.
“He had to get the team to the Champions League. They qualified and will be a strong rival for the Premier League.
“He’s an amazing Coach, fantastic. He was ahead of his time.”
