Mata: No De Gea problems

Juan Mata doesn’t expect Manchester United teammate David De Gea to have any problems after an aborted move to Real Madrid.

De Gea was set for Santiago Bernabeu on the final day of the transfer deadline only for the move to break down and the clubs to blame each other.

The goalkeeper hasn’t played this season after manager Louis Van Gaal decided to leave him on the bench until his future was settled but he could return when the Red Devils play Liverpool this weekend.

Former Chelsea playmaker Mata is close to De Gea, forming with Ander Herrera a Spanish enclave who live near to De Gea.

“I’ve talked with him a lot. There have been hectic and stressful days but he is such a quiet, centred person, nothing changes,” Mata told EFE, Mundo Deportivo reports.

“The last two years David has been the best player in our team. His saves have earned us a lot of points. I have no doubt this will be a very good year too.

“I don’t think there’ll be a problem with the club, the Coach or the fans. That’s what I perceive. The fans love him very much, he’s highly regarded by the club and the Coach.

“I think it will be the same. Herrera and I will continue saving on petrol!”
