Sergio Ramos has insisted that Real Madrid do not need to sign a striker following their 0-0 draw with Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Sunday.
Calls for a new attacker intensified in the wake of Los Blancos' stalemate at El Molinon, the fifth of Rafa Benitez's reign as Coach, but the defender believes his side have already proved their goal-getting ability under the 55-year-old.
“We can score goals. During pre-season, Real Madrid showed they could score goals, so we're not apologetic,” he told Canal+ after the game.
“We must continue working hard and adding in threes, which is the most important thing.
“[On a possible striker arrival], I'm not the one who has to make these decisions. We are who we are and we must go forward.
“The first half wasn't good at all. The team lost possession easily but began creating chances when we took charge of the match, although we weren't able to score.
“Nowadays, it's very difficult to win at any venue, but we'd have liked to get the three points.”
