Chelsea back in Pedro race?

A report from England claims Premier League champions Chelsea are again rivalling Manchester United for Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez.

The Daily Telegraph says both United were close to confirming the winger’s capture but the Blues have opened talks with Barca over their long-term target.

Chelsea were reportedly close to taking Pedro in January, only to instead decide on Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado.

It’s United’s attempt to talk Barca down in their valuation of Pedro that has opened the door for Chelsea, the report claims, as Barca continue to insist Pedro’s release clause will have to be met if he is to leave.

Chelsea have endured a sluggish start to the season, drawing once and losing once, causing Jose Mourinho to re-enter the transfer market, it’s alleged.

Mourinho hopes to add Pedro to John Stones, the Everton defender whom Chelsea have bid for on more than one occasion.
