Carlos Gurpegui hailed Athletic Bilbao’s Supercopa de Espana win as ‘a dream come true’ after Barcelona were soundly beaten.
Athletic took the first leg 4-0 in San Mames and the teams drew 1-1 at Camp Nou to give the Basques their first trophy since 1984.
“It’s amazing. All my life it’s been my dream to get a trophy. It’s a dream come true. The strength to win this trophy at Barcelona means so much to us,” he said, Marca reports.
“If any club in the world deserves this, it’s Athletic.”
