‘Madrid missing players who score’

Rafa Benitez believes Real Madrid’s lack of pre-season goals is down to the injuries in the squad and expects matters to improve as players return.

Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw in Norway by Valerenga, the fourth game of the summer Benitez’s team have failed to find the net.

“We’re missing players, the ones who score. If we create 20 chances with the players who score goals, we would have scored more goals,” the Coach argued, Marca reports.

“The important thing is we are creating the chances and have the strength we have again shown.

“We’re talking about pre-season, about friendly matches. We played the football to score a goal, but we didn’t have the accuracy.

“We’re not entirely satisfied but we have two weeks to continue working and there were many positives about the team.

“The pressing, especially in the second half, and the amount of chances we created.”
