Barcelona have missed out on Gerson after the Fluminense midfielder confirmed he would be presented by Roma next Friday.
The Catalans had purchased a first option for the 18-year-old some time ago, but the Giallorossi have since entered the race and blown the treble winners out of the water with a reported €18m bid.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Gerson tweeted: “Happy and looking forward to the 14th, my presentation in Rome at the Olimpico #ForzaRoma.”
Flu President Peter Siemsen also revealed on Thursday that the Brazilian starlet was Roma-bound, as opposed to Barca.
