Valdes ‘banished by Van Gaal’

Victor Valdes’ days at Manchester United appear to be numbered after the goalkeeper was moved out of the Premier League club’s first team.

It was reported by the Daily Mail that Van Gaal had Valdes’ locker cleared out and the former Barcelona custodian was relocated in the Under-21s’ dressing room.

Van Gaal had previously accused Valdes of refusing to play in an Under-21 fixture, an allegation Valdes contested, and the goalkeeper reportedly trained alone on Monday.

Valdes’ fellow Spaniards, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and David De Ge are said to be unhappy with the treatment of their compatriot, although haven’t complained to the manager directly.

Sergio Romero has joined the club to take over from Valdes as the No 2 goalkeeper while the future of De Gea, a target of Real Madrid, remains in the air.

Valdes, meanwhile, is also bound for the exit but would like to stay in the Premier League, while Pedro Rodriguez will reportedly join United from Barca in the near future.
