Barca opt against UEFA appeal?

Barcelona have reportedly decided against appealing the €30,000 fine issued to them by UEFA for pro-Catalan flags during the Champions League final on June 6.

Despite the likes of Josep Maria Bartomeu and Gerard Pique publicly criticising the punishment, AS claims it has received confirmation from both the club and governing body that an appeal will not be launched.

The newspaper explains that Barca are unwilling to enter a conflict with UEFA, given their support for Michel Platini in his bid to become the next FIFA President, and will instead pay the fine for now.

Furthermore, La Blaugrana are understood to be keen on establishing contact with the body in order to avoid another sanction if a similar display to that seen in Berlin is repeated in the future.

A meeting between the two parties is likely to take place before or after the UEFA Super Cup, which features the Catalans against Sevilla, in Tbilisi on August 11.
