It is reported that Roma are looking into the possibility of signing Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano.
According to Italian daily Gazzetta Dello Sport, Giallorossi officials have made contact with the Argentine defensive midfielder in order to gauge his interest in a possible move to Stadio Olimpico.
The 31-year-old has been at Camp Nou since 2010 following his switch from Liverpool, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues. Just last year, he signed a contract extension at the club until 2018 and is still viewed as an important part of Luis Enrique’s plans.
Nevertheless, Gazzetta says that Mascherano has not ruled out a transfer to Italy, with Roma prepared to offer him net wages of €3.5m a year.
