‘Madrid could pay De Gea €5m’

It is reported that Real Madrid will pay David De Gea €5m should they fail to sign him this summer, to ensure he joins the club next year.

Los Blancos are still hopeful of securing the Manchester United goalkeeper’s signature in this transfer window, but the Red Devils are not allowing him to leave without a fight.

Furthermore, the Old Trafford side themselves are interested in Madrid players Sergio Ramos and Keylor Navas, complicating the chances of an agreement being reached.

In the event that it is not, Marca say that the Santiago Bernabeu club would give the shot-stopper the same amount of money as he would earn in the first year of his Madrid contract: €5m. This would reportedly ensure that De Gea, who has entered the final year of his United contract, would leave next summer on a free transfer and head to the Spanish capital.

The Spanish daily finished by saying that, with the situation the way it is, the most likely outcome is that Los Blancos will sign Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla and wait until next summer for their number one target.
