Official: Pezzella joins Betis

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of defender German Pezzella from River Plate on a five-year contract.

Announcing the news on their official website, the La Liga new boys have purchased 50 percent of the Argentine’s playing rights and will unveil the player on Monday at 13:00 CET.

The 24-year-old [pictured, left] landed in Andalucia on Friday morning and subsequently underwent a medical, before being allowed to train with his new teammates for the first time.

In addition, Pezzella will not occupy a non-EU spot in the Betis squad as he holds an Italian passport.

The former Argentina Under-20 international joins the likes of Rafael van der Vaart, Didier Digard and Cristiano Piccini in completing permanent moves to Benito Vilamarin this summer.
