Neymar wants Barca sextuple

Neymar has spoken of his desire to continue winning trophies at Barcelona, including six in a single season.

European champions Barca will contest the Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup and World Club Championship this campaign, in addition to defending the La Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League titles they secured last term.

“I always want more,” Neymar said in an interview published on Diario Sport. “I still have the same hunger to continue winning more Leagues, Champions Leagues and cups.

“Treble is a very nice word, but I have learned another one that I like more: Sextuple!”

Brazilian Neymar was recently on international duty at the Copa America, but left the tournament in highly controversial circumstances after being sent off for brawling after the final whistle of his side’s defeat to Colombia. He was subsequently banned from the remainder of the tournament.

“I take responsibility, I never hide away, but in football you can’t win all the time,” the 23-year-old admitted.

“I think that in the Copa America the Selecao laid some good foundations that will serve us very well in the South American qualifiers for the next World Cup.”

Finally, the forward came to the defence of club teammate Lionel Messi, who has received severe personal criticism following Argentina’s failure to win the tournament held in Chile.

“Those of us who are with him for the whole year and our fans know that Leo is the best. He is the number one.”
