Josep Maria Bartomeu and Joan Laporta are set to vie for the Barcelona presidency after being named as two of the five official candidates.
The former patrons secured the minimum 2,534 signatures needed to make the final cut, alongside Toni Freixa, Agusti Benedito and Joan Batiste.
However, Jordi Majo – now known for his claims that he was offered Sergio Ramos as an electoral trump card – and Jordi Farre have dropped out of the running.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bartomeu achieved 9,124 signatures, almost double that of his nearest challenger Laporta.
The five will officially declare their candidacies between Monday and Wednesday, before the election campaign officially begins a day later, lasting for a week.
Friday will then be used as a day of reflection ahead of the big day on Saturday, when the winner will be announced.
