‘Pogba off the market’

Juventus managing director Giuseppe Marrotta has asserted that Real Madrid and Barcelona target Paul Pogba is not for sale this summer.

Barca’s interest in the France international is well documented and Madrid Castilla boss Zinedine Zidane announced on Monday that Los Merengues also want the 22-year-old.

However, Marrotta struck the Spanish sides’ hopes a blow by telling Corriere dello Sport that Pogba is not for sale and is central to the club’s future.

"Pogba is a player who several teams have asked about, but we have not adhered to any negotiation because we consider him fundamental to our project,” he said.

“The player is off the market if he doesn’t say he wants to leave. The will of the player is fundamental in football and it will be for Pogba as well.

“I repeat, we do not want to sell Pogba and he said today that will not leave. If in the future he shows the desire to leave us, we must support him while protecting our financial interests.”
