‘Pogba wants €12m from Barca’

Agusti Benedito, a candidate for the Barcelona Presidency, claims to have spoken with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Benedito told 8TV that he went through the Italian club before contacting the France international and received an answer when asking what it would take to get Pogba to Camp Nou.

“I’ve spoken to Pogba. First I spoke to Andrea Agnelli and then personally with the player. He asked for €12m net per season and an €80m transfer fee,” AS reports Benedito saying.

Benedito, who also alleged his phone had been tapped after he announced his candidacy, also discussed a number of other issues.

“You can win the election with 14,000 votes. I think everything will be decided on the last lap,” he continued.

“There will be four candidates in the end: [Josep Maria] Bartomeu, [Joan] Laporta, Benedito and [Toni] Freixa.

“Laporta and I started together in 1996. I left in 2009. Since then I’ve distanced myself from him and we have no relationship.

“I’m a big football fan but I don’t know a lot about football. I’m dedicated to pursuing talent throughout the world and in this search I’ve found Manchester United to be a club that works very well.”
