Neymar has claimed that Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi deserves the 2015 Ballon d’Or “for all that he did” last season.
The Brazilian, along with Luis Suarez, struck up a formidable partnership with the No 10 in 2014-15 as they fired La Blaugrana to a second treble and became the most prolific attacking trident in Spanish football history.
“This year, the award for the best player in the world already has an owner,” he said after his country’s 2-1 win against Peru in Copa America, in which he set up the winner in injury time.
“For all that he did, [Messi] deserves [the Ballon d’Or].”
