Khedira on ‘most difficult moment’

Juventus new boy Sami Khedira has admitted that his final season with Real Madrid was “the most difficult moment of my career”.

The German midfielder struggled with form and fitness throughout 2014-15 as he eventually brought the curtains down on his spell with Los Blancos in favour of a Bosman free transfer to the Champions League finalists.

“It wasn’t easy, but you can’t always expect gratitude in this industry,” he said at a Press conference ahead of his country’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar on Saturday.

“I don’t want to complain, I hold no grudges [against Madrid], but [last season] was the most difficult moment of my career.

“I was in good shape and training well, but I didn’t get a chance to play.

“I’m happy with the decision I made [to join Juve] and I appreciate Juve’s faith in me. I’m happy, but [I’m also happy] about my five years at Real Madrid.

“These past few months haven’t been easy for me because my future was uncertain.”
