Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque admits he would have liked to see Real Madrid meet Barcelona in the Champions League final.
Madrid were beaten by Juventus in the semi-final and the former Blancos boss concedes the Old Lady are worthy of their place in Berlin.
“From a Spanish point of view, I’d have liked to have seen a Clasico final between Barca and Madrid,” Del Bosque told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Having said that, Juventus very much deserved to reach the final, and the fact that both finalists are aiming for the treble is a measure of this great match between two teams which are different in style, but united by greatness.
“Honestly, when Real Madrid took the lead I thought the tie was over, they had everything in their favour.
But football can surprise you, and, to their credit, Juve didn’t lose their heads, they scored through [Alvaro] Morata and defended well against the Madrid pressure.”
Del Bosque added that he believes Barca’s greater strength in attack could prove decisive, but complained about the amount of non-Spaniards in Barca’s team and La Liga as a whole.
“On paper at least, it seems Barca have greater attacking potential than Juventus, at least individually,” he suggested.
“In football, we’re living in the age of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and the Argentine plays for Barcelona. He decides games. Barcelona’s attack seems better than Juve’s.
“I wish Barca played with more Spanish players, and not only Barca. Things are getting worse in La Liga, more than 10 teams play with a foreigner in goal.
“Barca even have two, and it's the same in other key positions.”
