Valencia demand €50m for Otamendi

Valencia will not accept anything less than the €50m stipulated in the release clause of Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi.

Super Deporte report Los Che will force Otamendi to say he wants to leave and, even then, will wait for his release clause to be triggered.

Valencia are believed to have taken that stance in light of the cost of the likes of Eliaquim Managala and David Luiz, and believe Otamendi is worth at least as much as the two of them.

His contract, which runs until 2019, calls for a fee of €50m, a fee it’s believed United could afford to meet.

Valencia don’t intend to sell unless they have to and have the saga of Jeremy Mathieu’s move to Barcelona a year ago in mind, when they stood firm and made La Blaugrana trigger the Frenchman’s clause.

Should Otamendi leave for €50m, he would become the most expensive defender in history.
