Man Utd want Benzema?

Manchester United have been linked with a €56.5m [£40m] move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Sections of the British Press say United want the France international after deciding against making permanent the loan move of former Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao, who spent the season at Old Trafford from Monaco.

There is also a concern over the fitness of Robin Van Persie, which has led to Louis Van Gaal identifying Benzema.

Benzema signed a new contract with Madrid in the summer of 2014 but there is uncertainty at Santiago Bernabeu after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. Rafa Benitez is expected to be appointed in place of the Italian.

Madrid are already a striker down on last season after it was confirmed Javier Hernandez would be returning to United following his loan spell.
