Athletic Bilbao have continued their preparations for next season by handing out further contract extensions to Xabier Etxeita and Iago Herrerin.
Etxeita, who returned to San Mames in 2013 after three years with Elche, has made 33 appearances at the heart of Ernesto Valverde’s defence this term and will now stay on until 2018, with a buyout clause of €40m.
Herrerin, meanwhile, has signed on until 2017, with a release threshold of €35m, after another campaign of playing second fiddle to Gorka Iraizoz in goal.
The announcement comes just a fortnight after Ander Iturraspe renewed his deal with Athletic.
