Khedira ‘very close’ to Juve

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is “very close” to agreeing terms on a Bosman free transfer to Juventus, according to Marca.

The Germany international was believed to be on the verge of joining Schalke, but the Royal Blues’ struggles this season, combined with his desire to continue playing Champions League football, have reportedly swayed his decision.

The Bianconeri, who knocked Madrid out of the Champions League semi-finals earlier in May, face the inevitability of replacing an ageing Andrea Pirlo, while question marks remain over the future of prized asset Paul Pogba.

Khedira joined Los Blancos on the back of the 2010 World Cup, along with Mesut Ozil, and was a regular performer in each of his first three seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, an ACL injury and subsequent failure to break back into the side led to his announcement that he would leave the Spanish capital at the end of the season.
