Gianluigi Buffon praised Juventus’ desire after helping his team end Real Madrid’s reign as European champions.
The Italian’s reached the Champions League final in Berlin on June 6 with a 1-1 semi-final second leg draw at the Santiago Bernabeu to claim a 3-2 aggregate victory, and Buffon explained how much his team wanted it.
“We were a team that wanted to achieve our objective and after winning the first leg we didn’t come here just to defend,” the 37-year-old told reporters.
“We knew there would be some very tough moments and that we’d have to stand firm, but we also played positively and had other chances to score.
“This has been a step we all wanted to take with all our hearts and we did really well to accomplish that.”
