Keane: ‘Bale must turn up’

Roy Keane feels Real Madrid will have a better chance of overcoming Juventus on Wednesday if Gareth Bale is on song.

The former Manchester United midfielder heavily criticised the Welshman’s display in last week’s Champions League semi-final first leg clash in Turin, yet he wants to see the 25-year-old return to the kind of form he believes he is capable of.

“There’s no doubting Bale’s talent and we’ve seen him do it before. We saw him do it last year in the big, big games,” Keane told ITV.

“If Gareth is at it on Wednesday then Real Madrid have got a chance. That’s if he turns up. He’s a top player.”

Keane’s former United teammate Paul Scholes, who also slated Bale in Turin, is another who wants to see him exert his influence at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We just want to see him be more positive because we know what talent he’s got, the pace and power he possesses.

“Last week his confidence looked low and he kept whipping the ball in,” said Scholes.
