Morata holds no grudge towards Madrid

Alvaro Morata says he holds no grudge against former team Real Madrid as he prepares to face them in the Champions League semi-final.

Morata returns to the Santiago Bernabeu with Juventus for the second leg clash against Los Blancos, having scored the Italian side’s first goal in their 2-1 first leg victory last week, although he refused to celebrate afterwards.

The 22-year-old joined Juve for €22m from Madrid last summer with a buy-back option for €30m included in the agreement. If the European champions decide to take it up a year later it would then rise to €35m, although right now Morata has no plans to return to the Spanish capital.

“I’m not thinking of Madrid because I’m happy in Turin,” maintained Morata in an interview with Sky Sports.

“No matter how long it has been since Juve last won the Champions League we are now working to win it again.

“I don’t hold any grudges against anybody at Madrid. I’m grateful to [Carlo] Ancelotti for giving me a lot of games, and even for having played me for a few minutes in the Champions League final.

“I don’t have anything to prove to anybody. I’m a Juve player now and want to do what’s best for the team.”

Morata revealed that since Madrid and Juventus were drawn together he has been inundated with fans wanting tickets for the game.

“I received around 3,000 requests for tickets for the Madrid-Juventus match,” he disclosed.
