Barcelona legend Carles Rexach is convinced Pep Guardiola will return to the club one day in some capacity.
The former winger, who played for Barca between 1967 and 1981 and is a former Coach at the club, told Kicker magazine he is convinced the current Bayern Munich boss will be back at the Camp Nou sooner rather than later.
“A man of his upbringing and links to Barcelona will come back to work for the club in the future,” commented Rexach.
“Whatever the role he occupies Guardiola is a part of Barca, similar to what Franz Beckenbauer is to Bayern.
“Wednesday’s Champions League game between the clubs will be difficult for everyone involved, not only for Pep who returns to his old love but also for our fans, who worship him.
“There are bound to be mixed feelings from everyone in the stadium.”
Regarding the match, the 68-year-old feels the Catalans have a slight advantage as the Barca players are familiar with Guardiola’s methods.
“The boys know in principle how Guardiola thinks, what he demands, although the two sides have different styles in that Barca are more instinctive and Bayern more a machine,” he explained.
