Allegri: ‘There will be goals’

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri believes neither game will be goalless when his team face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.

The Italians have home advantage in the first leg and Allegri feels they will have to be at their very best to overcome Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

“We are going to have to put in a perfect performance in both legs and neither is going to finish up goalless,” the 47-year-old told reporters.

“We are going to be at our best going forward and also in defence because it’s a semi-final against the defending European champions, which means they have a better chance than we do.

“We know how we’ve performed so far and we want to play as well as we possibly can. We are aware we’ll be up against a great team with world-class players.”

Allegri was full of praise for Madrid boss Ancelotti and also spoke about the criticism he himself has received from certain quarters.

“Carlo is really good, really smart, and his results prove that. I like him as a person and he’s been a successful Coach in Italy, England, France and Spain because he’s so good at what he does.

“For this game he says he is playing with a back four and I say I’m going to play with four, so it’s just numbers.

“The most important thing in football is results and I think they’ll remember me at Juve for what I’ve done up until now, not only for the good results I’ve achieved, which I’m proud of.

“I’m grateful to the club and the players,” he added.
