Bartomeu: No Pep tribute

Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed there’ll be no organised tribute to Pep Guardiola when Bayern Munich play Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.

Guardiola makes his first visit as an opposing Coach to Camp Nou on Wednesday and, in an interview with Esport 3, the President was asked about the prodigal son’s return.

“There’s no favourite. It’s an open tie against a great team that has a Coach who knows us very well,” Bartomeu replied, according to AS.

“It is necessary to honour Pep and I believe it has to be spontaneous. We won’t organise anything. There’ll be no video or anything.

“He comes with all the honours but also to win. After the game we can salute him.

“I believe the relationship between Guardiola and the board ended well. He decided to leave and [Sandro] Rosell, [Andoni] Zubizarreta and I wanted to continue. There’s no problem.

“The doors of Barca are open when he wants to come back. I think he will one day.”
