Porto boss Julen Lopetegui believes his team will bounce back despite the 6-1 Champions League thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich.
The former Spain Under-21 Coach saw his side crash out of the competition 7-4 on aggregate to former Barcelona teammate Pep Guardiola’s Bundesliga outfit, but afterwards remained philosophical about the defeat.
“Bayern are one of the best teams in Europe and one of the favourites to win the Champions League,” the Spaniard told reporters.
“We have to remember that in terms of experience there are three or four hundred matches difference between us.
“They are a fantastic team and we fought as hard as we could. We knew they’d try to make use of their wide players but we didn’t play well in the first half.
“We’ve lost by three goals in a competition where we’ve been excellent all season. But we are a young squad and will bounce back.
“Bayern are extremely strong and in my opinion are the best in Europe. They eliminated us with their first-half display and we weren’t good enough to go through,” he conceded.
