Villas-Boas: ‘Sevilla are invincible’

Zenit St. Petersburg boss Andre Villas-Boas has described Sevilla as ‘invincible’ on their home ground.

The Russians take on Unai Emery’s men in a quarter-final Europa League clash on Thursday and the Portuguese acknowledged his players face a difficult task at the Sanchez Pizjuan, where the hosts are on a seven-game European winning streak.

“We’ll be up against a strong team who are tough to beat at home but we want to remain in this competition and are hoping to win it,” the former Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss told a Press conference.

“Sevilla are the current title holders and a team who have proved to be invincible at their home stadium, although we are desperate to take a good result back to Russia.

“I’ve now been a Coach for five years and won four titles. I’ve learned a lot at all my clubs and want to continue learning and picking up trophies.”

Zenit go into the first-leg tie with some notable absentees and other players who are only just back to full fitness.

“We have four players suspended as well as players who are coming back from injury and that will be noticed despite the strength of our squad.

“However, our aim is to get a result that keeps the tie alive for the second leg,” he explained.
