Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas was fulsome in his praise for his Atletico Madrid counterpart Jan Oblak following the Champions League quarter-final.

The game ended goalless after Oblak made a number of impressive saves during a first half in which Madrid were well on top.

“He was the hero of the first half,” Casillas said of Oblak, AS reports.

“We deserved more. He was fantastic. Then Atleti didn’t allow us to get forward so much and controlled the game better.

“In the second half Atletico had more of the football and were able to calm the game down.

“0-0 leaves the game open for the return and it’ll be very nice. It’s an attractive game. We hope to have a good game. We’re at home and we’ll go to win.

“Marcelo [banned after he was booked] is an important loss. But there are other players waiting to play. We don’t like not having him but that’s what’s happened.”
