Franco: ‘Getafe need three more wins’

Getafe boss Pablo Franco feels his side need three more wins from their remaining nine League games to achieve top-flight safety.

The Madrid side had first-half goals from Alexis and Sergio Escudero to thank for the 2-1 win over Deportivo la Coruna at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Toche replying for the visitors, and now sit seven points clear of the relegation zone on 32 points.

“The sooner we get three wins the better because I’m not a mathematician and I don’t believe those experts who say we’ll be safe with 38 points. However, I think if we get nine more points we’ll have achieved our aims,” Franco told a Press conference.

“We were aware of the importance of this game against Depor because they are one of our direct rivals and maybe in the first half they were a little timid.

“Even so, in the second half we saw that they can play good football, as all Victor Fernandez’s teams do, but knew if we beat them it would open up a gap so it was a good three points,” he maintained.
