West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez in a €6m (£5m) deal, according to reports.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Deportivo but managed just eight goals in 35 appearances before returning to North London this summer.
Reports in Spain this weekend suggested the striker had sealed a €6m switch to the Lisbon-based club but this has since been denied.
“I know that West Ham want him and they have made an offer,” agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has said, in quotes carried by Daily Cannon.
“Lucas is happy at Arsenal but he wants to play regularly and West Ham is an option for him.
“There are other clubs interested but West Ham would allow him to continue in the Premier League and Lucas wants to stay in London.”
A report in the Mirror now states his desire is to remain in the Premier League while the Hammers wants a backup for striker Marko Arnautovic.
The former Spain international has two years remaining on his deal at The Gunners but looks set for a summer exit with new boss Unai Emery said not to be including him in his plans for this season.
Perez joined Arsenal for £20m in the summer of 2016 from Depor and went on to score seven goals in 21 appearances in his debut campaign but fell out of favour thereafter.
