Getafe aiming to break 30 points

Getafe Coach Pablo Franco is hoping to break the 30-point mark by beating relegation rivals Deportivo La Coruna.

Franco, appointed until the end of the season after Quique Sanchez Flores resigned in February, told a pre-match Press conference that getting past 30 points would be a big step towards another year in La Primera.

“We want to pass the 30-point barrier and hopefully [by Sunday night] we’ll have 32,” he said, AS reports.

“And then we have next week’s game with Elche and we’ll hope to keep adding [to our total].

“I think it’ll be a great game [against Deportivo]. We’re all motivated and committed. We know the importance of the game.

“We’re at home, we want to give the fans something to enjoy and we’re not thinking about what might happen if we don’t win.

“We’re very focused on what we want to happen, which is to get three points.”

Franco was also asked how he has found stepping in to the Coach’s role after Flores’ surprise exit.

“When you face new and uncertain times you have to adapt, especially with the immediacy of the situation,” he replied.

“The players rely on the work they’ve done, developing their football and keeping continuity. With some minor changes you can improve the group. But we’re not going crazy.”
