Aperribay: ‘Moyes will be a success’

Jokin Aperribay believes Real Sociedad cannot fail to be successful following the appointment of boss David Moyes this season.

However, the club President says he is aware the Scot wants to bring in new players this summer but warns against an entire overhaul of the squad.

“We must defend the values of the team that is here now. I don’t know what revolution is, but when the Coach talks to us he doesn’t speak in those terms,” remarked Aperribay in an interview with AS.

“It’s very difficult for us to fail with David Moyes because we are talking about a person who has high quality and prestige, who has come from another League, and I’m convinced that La Real will be successful with him. We are very happy with our Coach.

“Right now we have not started negotiations over contract renewals for the players but we’ll be speaking to David and the director of football first.

“When David arrived we told the players with agreements that were due to expire that they would have to wait until the end of the season.”

Aperribay also attempted to reassure fans who believe the former Everton and Manchester United boss is going to fill the team with foreigners.

“You are not going to see La Real playing in the Champions League with 14 foreigners, at least not while this board is here, because what we need to do is get into Europe with this squad.

“I have an exceptional relationship with Moyes and we have a clear idea of what we want for La Real. We’ll try to improve things little by little,” he added.
