Alaba now on Madrid radar

Real Madrid are planning a swoop for Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba and have already made contact over his proposed signing.

Marca understands that representatives from the Spanish giants met George Alaba, the player’s father and agent, in Vienna recently to discuss the possibility of a switch to La Liga.

The 22-year-old penned a new deal with the Bavarians in December 2013, tying him to the club until June 2018, but his situation now appears to have changed and his father is considering a move.

However, Alaba’s incorporation would not be without problems. His price tag would be around the €40m mark and Bayern are loathe to let someone who is a vital member of boss Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up depart.

Even so, the player himself is understood to want the final say on the matter and it would now be up to him to make the first move.

Alaba joined the Bundesliga outfit in summer 2008 and is a product of their youth system, going on to make his debut as a substitute against Greuther Firth in a DFB-Pokal game when he became Bayern’s youngest ever player in a competitive fixture at 17 years, seven months and eight days.
