Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu believes Lionel Messi will never play for any other club than the Catalans.
Mathieu, who grabbed his first Barca goal in the weekend Clasico win over Real Madrid, told Radio Montecarlo that he cannot envisage the Argentine anywhere other than the Camp Nou.
“I couldn’t imagine Leo at any other club than Barca and it would be impossible for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain to sign him,” maintained the Frenchman.
PSG are the Blaugrana’s next Champions League opponents and Mathieu acknowledges it will be no easy task to dispose of the French outfit.
“If we play like we did in the two group games against them then we’ll get through to the semi-finals, but for that to happen we need to be at 100 per cent.
“It won’t be easy because they have lots of quality and some really good players.”
Asked about Barca’s four-point lead over rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, the 30-year-old urged caution.
“There are still a lot of games left and points to be won. It’s an advantage having our destiny in our own hands but we know it will be difficult.
“We have to win all our games and April is going to be a busy month,” he asserted.
