Ramos: ‘Iker and I are self-critical’

Sergio Ramos has spoken of his relationship with goalkeeper Iker Casillas and revealed they are both self-critical in their analysis of games.

The Spain international also says that as the captains of Real Madrid they are the ones who should bear most responsibility and help the other players.

“When we travel I’m always with Iker on the plane,” disclosed Ramos in an interview with El Larguero.

“We always talk about the game, our friendship and the years we’ve spent together. We talk about the general balance of the match and try to analyse it.

“We are very self-critical, the pair of us. We discuss everything and if we have done everything right or not.

“On the pitch Iker and I are the ones who have to help the others the most because we are the captains.”

Ramos also spoke of the role players have to play when dealing with the media after games.

“I don’t think about either wanting or not wanting to go out and talk to reporters. To me, personally, it goes with how you are and your character as a footballer.

“At Real Madrid, if anything moves then the fans should be able to listen to the opinions of those on pitch and we have to show our face.

“I don’t have any problem with going out and speaking to the media. If you have a fear of it then you should try to avoid it,” he explained.
